Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary could not exist without its team of dedicated volunteers whose compassion and energy make amazing things happen every day. Whatever your interests, skills and experience, Safe Haven has an opportunity for you to pitch in and make a difference on behalf of Sussex County's homeless animals. And if you're looking to meet fellow animal-lovers, you've come to the right place.

Volunteer Positions

The following volunteer positions are our most urgent needs. If you or someone you know would like more information, please contact us!

  • Membership Program Coordinator

  • People with experience using Microsoft Access 

  • Canister Collectors in Western and Southern Sussex County

  • Writers (press releases, short articles for the newsletter, etc.)

  • Town Liaisons to do community outreach

  • Graphic Designers

  • Answer our phones and return messages

  • Assist in planning fundraising events

  • Hand out information and collect donations at public events

  • ...and more -- we definitely have a place for you!

Rescue Animals

Until Safe Haven is up and running, we encourage any of you who would like to help animals in need through rescue efforts and/or foster caretaking to contact your local rescue group. They will be most grateful for your participation. 

We encourage all who have room in their hearts and homes to adopt an animal from the Georgetown SPCA or from your local rescue organization.

  • Donate. Every financial contribution means so much! You can donate online, or send us a check made out in Safe Haven to: P.O. Box 430, Nassau, DE 19969.

  • Attend our events.

  • Do your online shopping at iGive.com, BuyforCharity.com, Goodshop.com or MyCause.com and select Safe Haven as your designated charity – it costs you nothing extra.  

  • Use GoodSearch.com as your daily web search engine.

  • Please consider donating pet food, especially cat food for those who care for stray cats. Click for our drop-off locations.

  • Create an email signature that appears at the end of all your emails that says:
